An anti-crime exercise in the Central Division on Saturday resulted in the arrest of four people for possession of cannabis and the seizure of a quantity of the narcotic.

The four suspects were searched while at the Chaguanas Vendors’ Mall, and separate quantities of cannabis were allegedly found on each of them.

A total of 325.24 grammes of cannabis was allegedly seized. They were subsequently arrested. Several unoccupied booths at the mall were also searched.

Officers found a transparent plastic bag containing several plastic packets and wrappings with a dry plant-like material resembling marijuana weighing 823.43 grammes with an estimated street value of TT$30,000.

During the exercise, officers proceeded to Connector Road, Carlsen Field, Chaguanas, and searched a bushy area.

They found dry plant-like material resembling high-grade cannabis weighing 439.10 grammes with an estimated street value of TT$15,000 in several plastic packets and wrappings. The packets and wrappings were found in a black plastic bag.

The exercise was supervised by Snr Curt Supt Simon, Supt Ramphal and included officers from the Central Division Task Force (CDTF) Area North led by Sgt Basant, Ag Cpl Hamilton and officers from the Canine Unit.
