Native Sun is in the process of securing its final licenses before opening its Coolidge Street dispensary.

HUDSON – The town’s second marijuana dispensary is eying a November opening.

Boston-based Native Sun is gearing up to join Temescal Wellness – which opened a shop on Coolidge Street in June 2018 – in Hudson. The company built its dispensary on an undeveloped plot of land on Coolidge Street near Highland Commons, an area zoned for medical and adult use marijuana dispensaries. Native Sun is working to secure its final licenses with the Cannabis Control Commission.

“We’re in the process of getting our post provisional license and we are working hard to get our final licenses complete soon,” said Colby Wood, marketing manager at Isenberg Projects – a creative consulting agency working with Native Sun. “While we don’t have an exact opening date yet, we’re hoping for sometime in November, pending final approvals.”

The facility will feature a spacious retail area, ample on-site parking and an express counter for fast tracking customers.

“Native Sun Hudson is dedicated to bringing premium cannabis and exceptional customer service to its community,” said Wood. “Our customers can expect a quality and experience not quite yet offered in the state of Massachusetts, one that will allow consumers both seasoned and new to feel valued, comfortable and educated in the world of cannabis.”

The adult-use shop will be Native Sun’s first. The company also plans to open a store in North Attleborough in 2021 and a production facility in Fitchburg soon, said Wood.

Hudson, and particularly Coolidge Street, was an appealing location for Native Sun due to its proximity to highly traveled roads, including Interstate-495 and Rte. 62.

“We were drawn to Hudson based off of the incredible location, lively community and surrounding businesses,” said Wood. “Hudson is a progressive, eclectic community that we look forward to joining as we provide a premier, high quality cannabis experience to the area.”

The company pledged to ensure that 50% of its hires are from the area.

“As a whole, we are excited to get to know and hopefully work with some of the amazing local businesses and establishments in the area,” said Wood. “We are looking forward to becoming more involved in this incredible community.”

Under the terms of the community host agreement Native Sun signed with the town, the company will pay Hudson $10,000 at the commencement of its operations and 3% of gross annual sales.

Along with the two shops, Hudson officials have signed off on special permits for Hudson Botanical Processing – a marijuana manufacturing facility – and Top Shelf Cannaseurs – a marijuana manufacturing and cultivation facility. Hudson Botanical Processing plans to open on Kane Industrial Drive, while Top Shelf will open on Brent Drive.
