A Barnett man was arrested Friday for allegedly growing marijuana in a residence.

Deputies went to a residence on Morgan Road outside of High Point looking to locate a woman, Megan Marler, who allegedly had multiple felony warrants for her arrest out of Miller County, according to Moniteau County Sheriff’s Department reports.

Deputies reportedly found a marijuana plant growing in the side window of the residence.

Deputies applied for a search warrant; and shortly before it arrived, Robert Newman, 37, of Barnett, arrived at the home, where he also resides.

Newman reportedly told deputies Marler was inside the residence with her son. After several attempts to contact Marler, she eventually came out with her 4-year-old son. She was later turned over to Miller County authorities.

Deputies then executed the search warrant, allegedly seizing a marijuana plant, packaging materials, U.S. currency, drug paraphernalia, marijuana and other controlled substances.

Newman was then taken into custody and allegedly admitted to growing and selling the marijuana and possessing the controlled substance.
