PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Office of the Portage City Clerk will begin accepting marijuana business applications for provisional approval on Wednesday, June 17.
The deadline for submitting applications is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 10. Applications for licenses of Provisioning Centers, Secure Transporters, Safety Compliance Facilities, Grower Facilities, Processor Facilities, Microbusinesses and Retailers are all being accepted.
No applications or parts of applications for these types of provisional permits will be accepted outside of this application period.
All applicants must have received pre-qualification from the Michigan Marihuana Regulatory Agency in order to have their application considered. There are no exceptions to this requirement.
All applications will be reviewed once the application period is closed. The City of Portage notes that its staff reserves the right to alter the application deadline.
All applicants must be familiar with the City of Portage Ordinances pertaining to Marihuana Businesses in the City of Portage.
Applications must be submitted in person and must include a signed and complete application form, all attachments required in the application and the $5,000 permit fee.
Due to safety guidelines relating to COVID-19, Portage City Hall is only open by appointment. To schedule an appointment to submit an application, call the Office of the City Clerk beginning June 17th at (269) 329-4511.
No appointments will be scheduled until June 17th.
