EAST LANSING — An East Lansing marijuana dispensary started recreational sales Saturday, making it the first in the city to offer sales to anyone over 21.
Pleasantrees, located at 1950 Merritt Road, is the first, and so far only, facility in East Lansing to receive recreational and medical retailer licenses from the state.
The retailer opened in July for medical patients only, but began recreational sales Saturday. It is open seven days a week from noon to 8 p.m. with walk-in and curbside service for customers 21 and over.
“Opening the first retail outlet in East Lansing, the home of my alma mater, Michigan State University, is a dream come true for me,” Randall Buchman, founder and CEO of Pleasantrees, said in a press release.

With Saturday’s start to recreational sales, East Lansing becomes the latest city in Greater Lansing to join the adult-use marijuana fray.
Recreational sales were launched in Lansing and Owosso in late February.
