The wait continued Tuesday for lawmakers and patients anticipating Gov. Kim Reynolds’ signature on an expansion to Iowa’s medical marijuana program.The bill, which lawmakers sent to Reynolds’ desk on Thursday, allows Iowans with post-traumatic stress disorder and chronic pain to use CBD. It also changes the THC limit patients can receive to 4.5 grams every 90 days. Some Democrats said the THC level is not enough to help severe health conditions. MedPharm, which runs Iowa’s CBD dispensaries, agrees. “We’re unhappy and upset the THC limit is not going to work for every Iowan,” said Lucas Nelson, with MedPharm.“We’ll work with them to come up with the best solution to deal with debilitating conditions, but it’s a step forward for access and a step backward for being able to treat every Iowan.” MedPharm said it will continue to push for higher levels of THC for patients in the next legislative session.
