A MAN caught with £55,000 of cannabis and kept most of the haul in his hotel room was jailed on Thursday for 12 months.
Ming He, 37, was snared with over two kilos in Glasgow’s Queen Margaret Drive in January this year.
The find prompted a search of his room in the Georgian House Hotel in the city’s Hillhead where he was living.
Glasgow Sheriff Court heard a further three kilos of the drug were found in several bags for life.
Prosecutor Mark Allan said: “The value from the earlier find was £9,300 and the total at the hotel was £11,400 wholesale.
“When divided and broken down, the potential quantities amount to £55,000.”
He, a Chinese asylum seeker, was arrested and charged before being kept in custody as he had no address.
The first offender pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cannabis.
Sheriff Johanna Johnston QC said: “You accepted your guilt to a serious offence involving trading in controlled drugs.
“This type of crime often leads to prison.”
