TRINIDAD — Marijuana money is helping out a small southern Colorado city.

The Mayor of Trinidad said about $1 million from the city’s marijuana taxes have gone to help the animal shelter and improve the creative corridor. Some has also gone to the rainy day fund.

The money has also helped people that are struggling during COVID-19. It’s gone to help people who lost their jobs as well as hospitals and other entities.

The Mayor said the next plan for the money is getting the city ready for when the state park at Fishers Peak opens.
