At the next Escanaba City Council meeting on Thursday, Aug. 20, the council will be moving forward to another two years of not selling recreational marijuana in the city of Escanaba. Legalizing or prohibiting the sale of this drug and its products in the city of Escanaba is a no win situation. The many negative results outweigh the small tax returns to our community and the cost of trying to enforce its regulations. Our community of Escanaba needs to let the council know that Ordinance 1237 is the best direction to move forward on this issue. Please carry out your civic responsibility by joining the virtual council meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20. Please voice your thoughts and concerns from the comfort of your home. Register by calling our city clerk’s office at 786-1194 before 2 p.m. on Aug. 19. Continue saying no to the selling of this drug in Escanaba.
