Two Rome men, Cederick Cortez Carter Jr, 26, and Sir Christopher Charles Carter, 30, were arrested this week after a traffic stop on Burnett Ferry Road turned up a .25 caliber hand gun and a bag of marijuana.

Reports said that when police stopped them they detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.  It was during the search officers located the handgun in a black bookbag. Both Carter’s denied ownership.

A bag of marijuana was also located near the scene and both Carter’s denied ownership of that as well.

Both are charged with possession of marijuana, tampering with evidence and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Carter is also charged with probation violation and failure to maintain lane.
