ADRIAN — The Adrian City Commission will be busy Monday with a number of items on both the premeeting and regular agendas.

Beginning at 5:30 p.m. with a premeeting, the city commission will discuss the competitive process the city is devising in regards to recreational marijuana permits.

Since the city has limited the number of marijuana facilities, it must have a competitive process in place to determine what businesses are awarded permits. The competitive process involves facilities that will sell recreational marijuana.

Other premeeting discussion items include the naming of city property in the downtown district and an electric car charging station, both Adrian Downtown Development Authority topics.

The commission is expected to vote during its regular meeting on a partnership with Adrian Public Schools and the YMCA of Lenawee County that would contribute up to $30,000 of city funds toward recreational programming in 2020.

Other regular meeting items include reappointments to the the Historic District Commission, Brownfield Redevelopment Authority and Adrian District Library Board.

The commission is also expected to vote on a contract for website redesign services and a franchise agreement with Comcast that would renew the current agreement the city has with the provider. The current agreement expires at the end of the year.

The regular meeting begins at 7 p.m. in City Chambers.
