A guard at the Swanson Center for Youth is facing one count of possession of contraband at a correctional facility after marijuana was located on campus.
According to an arrest report for Damion Bethea, age 28, Bethea entered the front gate at Swanson around 6 a.m. Thursday and was told to report to the Staff Development Building for a search.
The report states Bethea entered another building on campus first and went inside the men’s restroom. After he reported to the staff building, a search of the bathroom was conducted by a supervisor.
The supervisor located a pill bottle containing suspected marijuana and cigarette tobacco in the bathroom.
An Office of Juvenile Justice investigator then arrived at the scene and questioned Bethea. Per the arrest report, Bethea said he carried the bottle into the facility and verified it contained tobacco and marijuana.
A test kit also provided a presumptive positive result for the presence of THC.
Bethea was booked into Ouachita Correctional Center Thursday morning on the charge, and bail has not been set.
