A 29-year-old Michigan man faces a charge of dealing in marijuana after a traffic stop Sunday evening on Interstate 65 near Seymour.

Jesse T. Brescia of Lansing was arrested on that charge and charges of possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia after a traffic stop at the 50 mile marker, according to a news release from Sgt. Stephen Wheeles with the Indiana State Police Versailles Post.

Wheeles, the post’s public information officer, said Brescia’s arrest was the result of a traffic stop at about 8 p.m.

The stop was made by Trooper Stephen Stoneking on multiple violations on a 2018 Jeep Cherokee being driven south on I-65 by Brescia, police said.

During the stop, Stoneking reported smelling the odor of marijuana coming from the passenger compartment of the vehicle, Wheeles said.

A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of more than 11 pounds of marijuana along with boxes containing nearly 300 jars of marijuana extract and drug paraphernalia, Wheeles said.

Brescia was arrested and booked into the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown at 9:50 p.m. Sunday and was being held without bond pending his initial court appearance.
