A statewide nonprofit group promoting two ballot measures dealing with the legalization of marijuana is hosting a statewide day of action Wednesday, including a rally in Aberdeen.
The 11 a.m. rally is at Aldrich Park, 300 N. Main St., according to local event organizer Aaron Winterberg of New Approach South Dakota. He said it will include speakers who will discuss the importance of both measures and end with a march to the courthouse where participants can vote.
Initiated Measure 26 aims to legalize marijuana for medical use. Constitutional Amendment A would legalize, regulate and tax marijuana, including for recreational use, and require the state Legislature to pass laws regarding hemp and ensuring access to marijuana for medical use.
