SISKIYOU COUNTY, Calif. – The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s office said during a raid in the Mount Shasta Vista area, they found nearly 8-thousand plants. Along with those plants, 52-pounds of processed marijuana was seized and a gun was found.

Several people were detained but ultimately only two were arrested. In the past seven weeks, the sheriff’s office said it has eradicated over 30-thousand illegal plants.

Officials report that on Tuesday, June 16, the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office, its Siskiyou Interagency Marijuana Investigation Team, in partnership with the North State Major Investigation Team and several other law enforcement agencies conducted a counter-drug raid in the Mt. Shasta Vista area of Siskiyou County, primarily at four rural parcels, netting a combined total of 7,717 illicit marijuana plants.

Officials say the illicit plants were located within numerous greenhouses and illegal outdoor cultivation sites on the properties.

Sheriff deputies say all parcels of land had greenhouses with a significant number of marijuana plants. Parcels were located near Perla Drive and several were clustered between Christine Drive and Pheasant Road. The location is roughly situated 27-miles southeast of Yreka.

Deputies say six adults were detained and three children, ranging in ages from 8 to 12 were also at the illegal drug site. Two adults were arrested.

Officials ask anyone with information about illegal marijuana cultivation operations in their county neighborhoods or the cases subject to these recent counter-drug operations are urged to contact the SCSO’s 24-hour Dispatch Center at (530) 841-2900.
