PHARR, Texas (KVEO) — U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations discovered 7,645 pounds of marijuana concealed within a commercial ketchup shipment.

According to a release, officers encountered a tractor-trailer on at the Pharr International Bridge on July 17. After inspection, they discovered 968 packages of marijuana hidden within buckets of ketchup.

Officials valued the seized marijuana at $1,529,000.

Homeland Security Investigations took over the case, according to the release.
