Cannabis worth over €1.2 million has been found in a ditch in Co Laois.

The drugs were discovered along a secondary road near the Carlow/Laois border last night.

62kg of cannabis herb was seized, with the drugs believed to have a street value of €1.24 million.

Gardaí from Arles and Ballylinan were involved in the operation, with the support the Laois Divisional Drugs Unit.

No arrests have yet been made in connection with last night’s seizure.
