THE WHAT? China is set to ban the use of cannabis and its extracts in beauty products, according to a report published by Jing Daily.

THE DETAILS The country’s National Institutes for Food and Drug Control will seek to restrict the sale of products containing beauty’s hottest ingredient, CBD, Cannabis sativa kernel fruit, Cannabis sativa seed oil and Cannabis sativa leaf.

THE WHY? While CBD beauty is trending in the west, in Asia, its sale is largely controlled. This latest move is in line with China’s classification of marijuana as a dangerous narcotic, although would appear at odds with its status as one of the world’s largest hemp producers, per Jing Daily.
