Now just a call, click, text or email away, a cannabis delivery service celebrated its location in San Luis Obispo on Tuesday.

Coastal Cannabis held its ribbon cutting off of Broad Street. The retail brand is based in Santa Barbara and is expanding up the Central Coast.

The company will make now deliveries to San Luis Obispo County.

After going through the lengthy approval process with the city and police, the new location adds 10 jobs to the community.

In the last week during its “soft opening”, Coastal has seen more than 80 new clients order in the area.

The company’s goal, its leaders say, is to be good neighbors.

“Absolutely,” John Giammanco said. He manages the location in San Luis Obispo. “One of our biggest concerns is compliance and making sure everything is by the book, above board. I do have a few years of experience in the industry. The compliant market is changing daily so we’re always staying on top of laws and regulations.”

Deliveries will be made in unmarked vehicles.

“That’s one of the really cool things about delivery is it’s not in your face,” said CEO Julian Michalowski. “Our cars are unmarked and we really are able to deliver it straight to people’s houses so it’s not going to be intrusive to people who don’t want it. They won’t really know that it’s there.”

“We’ve never been in the illicit market,” Malante Hayworth said, Coastal’s COO. “Lot of people coming in now are transferring from the medical or illicit market. We have a background in real estate and development. We are more looking at the business side of it. So we’ve always been in a highly regulated market. We want to make sure we’re building a business that has longevity. And with that, we make sure every single ordinance or rule we have, we follow it to a ‘T’. Because that’s our long term goal. We’re not in this to make a quick buck.”

Another goal of Coastal is to continue to expand up the coast. In September, Coastal opened a store front in Santa Barbara.

“I think the demand speaks for itself,” Giammanco said. “People want the product medicinally, recreationally. So the demand is there. And there is a select few operating at this point so we’re very fortunate to be one of those few, but I think there is going to be a lot of growth and exciting new opportunities with the industry.”

Coastal also announced its commitment to donating 2 percent of net profits back into the community.
