Mayfield, N.Y. — Two brothers in different vehicles were driving down a country road in Fulton County Thursday morning when State Police pulled them over.

While police questioned the two men by the side of Route 30 in Mayfield, officers could smell marijuana coming from each car, state police said in a news release Friday.

Police searching the vehicles noticed a number of packed hockey bags, police said. When officers opened the bags, they found they were filled with marijuana, police said.

In all, officers found 471 pounds of marijuana in the bags, police said.

The brothers, Tevin L. Terrance, 27, and Tyren A. Terrance, 25, were charged with 1st-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a felony. The two men live in Akwesasne on the U.S.- Canadian border.

They two men were arraigned in Mayfield Town Court and issued appearance tickets.
