The arresting officer in the case of the man who is alleged to have cultivated 37 plants of marijuana told the court that the accused admitted to owning the alleged plants on his farm.

Viliame Kawa is facing trial before the Suva High Court and is charged with cultivating marijuana.

The officer told the court that when they approached the accused he had revealed to the officers that it was his marijuana farm.

He said while the officers were uprooting the farm, Kawa stood there normal.

Kawa’s wife is also fronting court for drug related charges and the officer told the court that at that time he was not aware who Kawa’s spouse was.

He also confirmed that at no point in time was Kawa threatened by the officers.

The trial will continue today before Suva High Court Judge Justice Salesi Temo.
