The agency in charge of regulating marijuana sales in the state says Michigan pot shops have sold $110 million in product since recreational adult-use sales went legal December 1 of last year. Andrew Brisbo is the executive director of the Marijuana Regulatory Agency. He spoke with Michigan News Network.
“Over the past five weeks, we’ve seen the highest level of sales successively each week,” Brisbo said. “We see a lot of interest at the number of facilities expands. We’ve continued to get the same number of applications despite the pandemic.”
In recent weeks, the agency has expanded “social equity” opportunities to more communities impacted by the war on drugs as well as allowing some people with drug convictions to become licensed to work in Michigan’s cannabis industry.
