FAIRFIELD — Tax revenue collected by the state from the cannabis industry was reported at $208.4 million for the second quarter of 2020 – a figure that does not include tax revenue collected by cities and counties.

“Since January 2018, total program revenue to date is $1.45 billion, which includes $709.9 million in cannabis excise tax, $173.7 million in cultivation tax and $563.6 million in sales tax,” the state Department of Tax and Fee Administration reported Wednesday.

The state agency reported that $101.8 million of the second quarter’s revenue, from April through July, was generated by the cannabis excise tax and $22.9 million from the cultivation tax. Sales tax from cannabis businesses totaled $83.7 million.

The first-quarter tax revenue was $205.9 million, bringing the 2020 total after six months to $414.3 million.
