SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — South Dakotans will decide whether to legalize medical marijuana in November 2020.

Secretary of State Steve Barnett announced Thursday that activists recorded over 25,000 signatures in support of the ballot measure. By law a petition for a ballot measure in South Dakota needs at least 16,961 to succeed.

The vote on the issue will take place during the general election on November 3.
