DETROIT (WWJ) – Michigan’s marijuana retailers are going curbside because of coronavirus.

The state agency that regulates medical and recreational cannabis will now allow curbside pickup and home delivery.

Customers can either place their orders online or right in the parking lot of the dispensary, where they can wait inside their vehicles. A licensed employee will complete the sale in the parking lot, validate the customer information and record the necessary information into the statewide monitoring system.

State officials say the changes are temporary to protect cannabis businesses, their employees and public health.

Some of the changes approved by the Michigan Marijuana Regulatory Agency include:

•    Implementing the ability for retail curbside pickup effective immediately;
•    Allowing home delivery to patients, even if they are not at the same address that is listed on their patient card; and;
•    Expediting the approval of delivery procedures within 24-48 assisting licensed facilities to swiftly implement home delivery.
