RABAT, March 4 (Xinhua) — The Moroccan police on Thursday seized 4 tonnes and 60 kg of cannabis in the northern city of Assilah.

Two inflatable boats, four engines, and 1,560 liters of fuel were also seized, said a statement by the Moroccan police.

An investigation is being carried out to probe the trafficking routes of the seized drug, and to identify all the people involved in these criminal acts, the statement said.

Despite efforts to crack down on cannabis during the past decade, Morocco remains one of the world’s largest producers of the narcotic plant, according to the UN Office on Drugs and Crime. Enditem
