County Sheriff

— A woman who lives on Lusk Lock Road, Elkrun Township, reported her ex-husband called 52 times in 10 hours on Aug. 2.

— A damaged phone was found on Randel Road on Wednesday and turned over to a deputy.

— Paul W. French, state Route 172, West Township, reported Wednesday his ATV was stolen from his open-end pole barn.

Lisbon

–A passerby reported hearing people yelling from the second-floor window of an apartment house on West Lincoln Way at 3:31 a.m. Thursday. Police arrived and determined the yelling was coming from a TV, which was corroborated by the apartment occupants.

— Todd A. Hawthorne, 38, Garner Avenue, East Liverpool, was charged with marijuana possession, driving under suspension and having illegal license plates following a traffic stop at Smith Oil at 8:53 a.m. Tuesday.

–A resident at 250 Cedar St. reported her house was egged Monday, and this is the second time it happened.

–A caller reported finding a burnt American flag affixed to the telephone pole at the corner of East Lincoln Way and Harrison Street at 4:08 a.m. Monday. The man said his wife found an Antifa poster stapled to the pole and the flag beneath it. He put the flag in a bag and gave it to the officer, but the man did not know what became of the Antifa poster.

— A caller reported a motorist driving east into town on U.S. Route 30 was weaving about at 12:20 a.m. Tuesday. Police located the vehicle and pulled the motorist over. The driver was not impaired and she explained she was still shook up from having just filed a domestic violence report. She said this was the first time she had been out of the house since the pandemic. She was told to slow down and get home safely.

–Police responded to the Days Inn at 8:43 p.m. Aug. 5 after staff complained about the smell of marijuana coming from two rooms and they wanted the occupants to leave. The occupants gave police permission to search the rooms and the officers found small amounts of marijuana, which were confiscated. The parties then left the motel.

Columbiana

— Patricia M. Bingham, of Salem, was arrested and served a summons at 3:08 p.m. Wednesday.

Highway Patrol

— James R. Tittle, 71, of Negley, was cited for failure to control for driving off the side of Pancake-Clarkson Road in Middleton Township and striking several potted trees, a ditch, a gas pipe marker, a wooden log and an embankment at 4:58 p.m. Aug. 7. Tittle said he was experiencing intense pain and passed out prior to the crash.

— Gregory A. Cunninghan, 60, of East Liverpool, was cited for failure to yield at a stop sign and collided with Richelle L. Shelter, 35, of New Waterford, at the intersection of Fairfield School Road and state Route 558 in Fairfield Township at 12:50 p.m. Sunday.

— Douglas B. Orr, 48, of Lisbon, was cited for failure to control when he drove off the side of Gamble Road in Center Township and struck a tree at 5 p.m. Monday.

East Liverpool

— Douglas C. Toothman, no address listed, was arrested shortly after midnight Monday in the 300 block of West 9th Street on a charge of domestic violence, after allegedly threatening to kill a female victim.

— The city’s police chief reported at 2:32 p.m. Monday that he went over to Berdine’s Corner Tavern, which is across the street from city hall, to speak with the bartender and clients about things that can be done to limit the spread of the virus. For the record, there was a plastic barrier at the bar between the masked male bartender and the four patrons.

— Officers responded at 7:50 p.m. Monday to the 200 block of West Sixth Street for a domestic dispute between a mother and daughter, who was angry because she wanted to stay longer at her friends and was not permitted to.

— Heritage Cooperative in the 600 block of River Road reported at 8:06 a.m. Monday that someone had written graffiti all over the property over the weekend.

— Debris was removed from the intersection of West Second and Jackson shortly before 6 p.m. Monday.

— A subject riding a dirt bike at 6:41 p.m. Monday in the first block of Lincoln Avenue was advised to put it away for the night.

— Housing inspector Bob Smith requested officers 9:08 a.m. Monday in the 1500 block of Holiday Street for discarded furniture piled up in the right of way and at 10:10 a.m. Monday for a junk vehicle in the 900 block of St. George Street.

— Shawn Rias, no address listed, was arrested at 12:21 p.m. Monday on charges of no turn signal, no operator’s license and possession of marijuana.

— Police responded at 10:13 pm. Monday to the first block of Wilbert Avenue for the report of a male lying in the middle of the room screaming. Upon contact with the subject in the 200 block of Maine Boulevard, officers learned that he allegedly had been sprayed with mace while visiting his child’s mother. The female who allegedly maced him claimed that it was in defense of her boyfriend. He was advised how to pursue charges if he wished to.

— A woman reported at 9:13 a.m. Saturday that someone had broken into her daughter’s car and stole a purse.

— Welfare checks were performed at 1:25 p.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of Wilbert Avenue and at 9:35 p.m. Monday at Fawcett Apartments.

— An administrator at Fawcett Apartments reported at 8:21 a.m. Wednesday that someone had cut a catalytic converter off one of its parked vans.

— A resident of the 500 block of Wilbert Avenue reported at 1:39 a.m. Tuesday that her neighbors were outside being loud. Upon contact, the subject admitted that he was allowing his son to run off his energy before bed.

— A Fawcett Apartment woman reported shortly after midnight Tuesday that she had been involved in a dispute with a male after she rejected him.

— Police responded at 2:44 p.m. Tuesday to the 1200 block of Sunnyside Street for an open door on a vacant residence.

— Officers responded to another choking baby shortly before noon Tuesday in the 300 block of East Eighth Street. Upon arrival, the dispatcher had walked the female parent through the process of dislodging the object in the 8-month-old.

— A semi-trailer truck struck a light at the intersection of Parkway and Pennsylvania Avenue, according to witnesses at 1:32 p.m. Monday. Neither the vehicle or light sustained damage.

— Shawn Rias, no address listed, was arrested at 12:21 p.m. Monday in the first block of West 8th Street on charges of no turn signal, no operator’s license and possession of marijuana, after K9 Nero alerted on his vehicle.

St. Clair Township

— Leslie M. Pettner, no address listed, was arrested at 2:58 p.m. Sunday in the first block of Calcutta Smithferry Road on a charge of possession of marijuana, after a routine traffic stop. K9 Noras alerted on the vehicle.

— Two subjects reported an assault at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 5 at the former 4 Sons Tire and Auto in the 40000 block of Y&O road after property. Neither combatant wanted to file charges.

— Daniel E. Riggs, no address listed, was served at 9:12 p.m. Monday in the first block of Cricket Lane with an active warrant out of the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office, after a routine traffic stop. He also received two traffic citations.

— Officers responded at 5:21 p.m. Monday to the 47000 block of Warren Avenue for an investigation. A real estate agent was showing the property and a neighbor came over and threatened him. Police told the neighbor that the next time a suspicious person comes along to contact the police instead of trying to handle it on his own.

— A groundskeeper for Calcutta Square reported shortly after 2:34 p.m. Monday that an unknown subject had damaged a fence near the post office. Police learned that witnesses had seen a drunk driver hit it before fleeing the scene.

— Employees of Domino’s reported at 11:43 p.m. Tuesday that a group of apparently impaired subjects had thrown garlic packets at their window after picking up their order. They were told that if the group returns to call police.

Salem

— Darrell R. Jackson, 41, West Fifth Street, Salem, was cited for assured clear distance ahead following a two-vehicle crash on Newgarden Avenue and Mullins Street at 5:04 p.m. Aug. 9 in which he was northbound and failed to stop for traffic, striking the rear of a vehicle driven by Daniel E. Cliver, 29, Akron, who was waiting to turn left into a business parking lot. Cliver was treated on scene for possible injuries.

— A man reported at 8:46 a.m. Wednesday someone had stolen a metal antique patio set from a side yard in the 800 block of South Lincoln Avenue sometime since late in the prior afternoon.

— An officer responded to a domestic dispute in the 200 block of Park Avenue at 9:55 p.m. Wednesday and found a male individual had shattered the back window of his girlfriend’s vehicle with her three children inside following a verbal dispute in which she attempted to leave with the children. A felony warrant for domestic violence has been issued for the man’s arrest.

— A Newgarden Avenue resident reported at 10:26 a.m. Wednesday several of his bank cards went missing recently and then one showed fraudulent activity.

— Crystal R. Hoskinson, 29, Summit Street, Salem, was charged with felony counts of tampering with evidence and weapons under a disability as well as possession of drug paraphernalia; and Todd Ritchie, 42, East Third Street, Salem, was charged with a felony count of weapons under a disability as well as possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under suspension following a traffic stop at East School and East Fourth Street at 3:28 p.m. Wednesday in which drug paraphernalia was in plain sight and a search of the vehicle found them in possession of additional drug paraphernalia and firearm in the trunk.

— A motorist was issued a warning for possession of marijuana following a traffic stop at North Lincoln Avenue and East 10th Street at 7:35 p.m. Wednesday. The marijuana was confiscated and disposed of.
