Apple Guy Flowers LLC is a new business planning to grow cannabis at Thayer Family Farms at 92 South Shaker Road. Sole proprietor Lucas Thayer is scheduled to meet with the Select Board to discuss his plans at 6:30 p.m., June 30. This business was already the subject of a contentious public outreach meeting Dec. 19, 2019.

Apple Guy Flowers has submitted a business overview to the Select Board that matches information provided to the public during the Dec.19 meeting. Thayer plans to engage only in cultivation, not sale, delivery, or manufacturing, and will seek a Tier II cultivation license, which allows up to 10,000 square feet of canopy. The business plan calls for the production of 50 pounds of raw cannabis flower annually; as of last August, raw cannabis flower was valued at $3,000 to $4,200 per pound. Growing season will be from April to October. Thayer intends to grow the plants inside an enclosed greenhouse during cooler parts of the year, but the greenhouse will be opened to the outside air in warmer weather.

The business outline states that the business will employ an operations and compliance manager and some number of farmhands, but does not provide further detail. It also states that the business will deter theft by complying with security regulations and coordinating with law enforcement.
