BAY CITY, MI — Another marijuana dispensary in Bay County is now selling recreational pot. In addition and due to COVID-19’s prevalence, shoppers can place their orders online and participate in curbside pickup.

Starting Wednesday, April 1, Skymint Bay City at 4330 Wilder Road is offering recreational marijuana for area residents 21 and older. Orders can be placed on the business’ website at https://www.skymint.com/.

Those who order online automatically receive a 10 percent discount. The store offers a variety of flower, edibles, concentrates, tincture, and accessories.

Skymint’s Bay City location opened July 10, though at the time it was only to medical marijuana cardholders.

Skymint is the retail arm of Green Peak Innovation, self-described as Michigan’s largest vertically integrated marijuana operator. The Dimondale-based company is also implementing several measures to help patients, customers, and employees amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“Green Peak Innovation’s top priority has always been the safety, health and well-being of our customers and team members,” said Jeff Radway, GPI’s co-founder and chief executive officer. “With our added safety measures, GPI continues to serve the patients and customers most in need of relief during this unprecedented period in our history.”

GPI has implemented the following safety measures at all of its locations throughout Michigan:

  • All Skymint stores are open and offering online ordering and curbside pickup
  • High-efficiency particulate air (or HEPA) filters have been installed in all stores and throughout grow facilities and offices
  • Increased cleaning protocol and frequency
  • Safe distancing measures in place for all team members
  • Team members working from home whenever possible
  • All team members wearing protective gloves
  • Bio secure production facilities

All employees unable to work from home are also receiving an increase in salary and hourly wage of 20 percent. The company is also seeking more employees to fill multiple positions in retail, production and corporate headquarters. Those interested in applying can do so online at https://www.greenpeakinnovations.com/#careers.

Radway also announced the opening of Skymint’s seventh location, this being at 2508 S. Cedar St. in Lansing. Besides Bay City, the other five locations are in Ann Arbor, Flint, Newaygo, Nunica, and White Cloud, with one in Traverse City coming soon.

Like GPI’s six other Skymint locations, the Lansing store is now accepting online orders for curbside pickup in an effort to mitigate the transmission of COVID-19 while providing the region’s patients and community essential marijuana products and services.
