The video also makes it clear that New York’s 2019 decriminalization bill didn’t go far enough. The still legally ambiguous environment around marijuana gives too much discretion to individual officers, which tends to result in aggressive, racially-biased policing practices. It’s high time New York took a good look at the devastation caused by our six decades of prohibitionist policies, and legalized marijuana once and for all.
