PEORIA — A Central Peoria man was arrested early Wednesday morning for possessing more than 10 pounds of marijuana which was found while officers were investigating a shooting in that area.

Officers with the Peoria Police Department were investigating a shooting in the 2600 block of West Wardcliffe Drive on Wednesday. Officers were given consent to a search a home on that block at about 2 a.m. and upon entering the home, they saw a large amount of marijuana sitting on a lazy Susan in the kitchen, according to a report filed at the police station.

Detectives were called to the area and then, they searched the home more, finding bags of pot near the microwave oven as well as more bags in drawers and in a closet along with a scale, the report said.

In all, 1,478.5 grams of pot was seized as well as $175. Brandon A. Ellis, 26, was booked on the charge of possession of between 500 and 2,000 grams of marijuana and possession of drug equipment.
