SHREWSBURY — Verilife Shrewsbury, the first recreational pot shop in town, opened Tuesday morning on Route 9.

“We are pleased to expand and serve customers more broadly in Massachusetts with the addition of our new Shrewsbury location,” Brett Novey, CEO of PharmaCann, said in a press release. “We welcome the opportunity to become an active member of the community, and we look forward to bringing new jobs to the state and providing high-quality products and service to the residents of Shrewsbury and the surrounding area.”

Verilife Shrewsbury is owned by PharmaCann Inc., one of the nation’s largest privately-held cannabis companies. It is the company’s second retail location in the state; Verilife Wareham opened in 2018 and serves both medical and adult-use markets.

Verilife Shrewsbury is starting with adult-use sales and plans to serve medical customers soon, according to the press release.

The store is located at 939 Boston Turnpike and is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m for adults 21 and older with a valid government-issued ID. The dispensary will initially serve customers by reservation only — a state-of-the-art ordering system is available for customers to place an order and select a time for pickup, according to the press release — and is expected to be available by walk-in or reservation within the first month of opening.
