DUBLIN, Ireland – Cannabis worth €44,460 has been seized in a search of a house in Dublin which also revealed a loaded Beretta semi automatic pistol with 6 rounds of ammunition.

A man in his late 20s was arrested at the scene and and taken to Store Street Garda Station where he is being detained. Aside from drug charges, the man is also wanted in relation to burglaries at premises on Merchants Road, East Wall earlier this month and also in March.

The house search on Thursday was carried out by garda attached to the Detective Unit in Store Street, assisted by the Divisional Drugs Unit, following the issuance of a warrant obtained in relation to an investigation into the burglaries.

During the course of the search cannabis herb with an estimated street value of €44,460 and Diazepam tablets with a street value of €4,234 were seized. Also seized were over 250 pouches of tobacco and exhibits in relation to the burglaries, along with the loaded Beretta semi automatic pistol and ammunition.

The man arrested remains in custody at Store Street Garda Stationand while investigations are ongoing.
